I would like to take this opportunity to give parents a little guide of what to expect in a Monster Spray Mum Workshop.
I designed this Workshop from love.
I created this from something that I did for My own children to help them with their fears, anxiety and imagination.
As a parent of boys (aged 4 and 2 years old), I truly understand the sleepless nights, night terrors and awful nightmares that can happen.
I understand that googling solutions at 2am with a child screaming, terrified to go to bed and coming up with nothing is not going to help you as a parent.
That’s why I am doing this. To help parents and children in simple, easy ways, overcome “Monsters” in all shapes and sizes.
When a child tries to explain to you that they saw a Monster, what do you do?
I hear most parents say “Oh Monsters are not real, go back to bed!” which is what our parents told us right.
So, how many other things, did your parents tell you and where all of them right?
I believe that kids should be heard and an attempt be made to source the issue of the problem, not simply sweep it under the rug like previous generations.
I also believe that it’s important to embrace their imagination because life will be pretty boring if they are told to “stop imagining things”!
I am no different to “Sesame Street”, the age-old institute that raised most of us, that has it’s own Monsters; Monster’s Inc, that is all about Monsters, using our fear to energize their way of life; Halloween, where we all love to dress up for fun and get candy.
My Workshop is: Fun, Interactive and gives kids a tool to use when they face a Monster.
I have written a book called Mum’s Marvellous Monster Spray, which I read to them. Encouraging comprehension, rhyme and how to follow instructions while being fun and colourful.
For the kids with Monsters at home, I listen to them, work out their concerns and why they think the monster is there. I get them to describe their monster and ask them for some suggestions for taming it. Kids are so incredibly wonderful, they are their own best problem solvers. All I need to do is give them some of my time and listen. My techniques are working and I have many testimonials from very happy parents and kids on my website and facebook page
Some kids are disappointed, that they don’t have a monster, at their homes at the end of the workshop. I guess it’s because they feel confident, that they could tackle it and either befriend that monster or banish it forever.
I, topically and Aromatically use essential oils. These are calming and excellent for anxiety and fear, at the workshop and have had wonderful reports from both parents and teachers on just how well they work. I have had schools and centers add my topical oils and Vaporizer Concentrate in a diffuser, to classrooms so that kids can settle and learn more easily. I use the prepared oils in proper children diluted ratios as a monster repellent in the workshop. You can find a list of ingredients of my oils on my website.
I have songs that I have developed for the workshop that are available on itunes. These are EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or Tapping Songs that I have trained in, that works with the mind and body to identify where the child, feels their fear or anxiety and eases that emotion quickly and easily. Just another tool they can have in their arsenal to protect them from monsters.
I also have monster colouring in pages, that can help the kids too. Colours can help parents and teachers identify how a child is feeling. It can open dialogue that would have never existed before and without that colouring sheet, things would have gone without noticing it, especially in our very “busy” lives. I leave them with the center or school. No, they are not fairies or butterflies but that has to be ok, because not everyone, wants to colour in fairies, puppies or butterflies. I strongly believe that allowing kids to be creative in every which way possible. Which is a benefit to them, their teachers and society in general.
At the end of the workshop in the last 5 minutes the kids are introduced to our families friendly (because we have sprayed them) monsters for a cuddle. I tell them their names, where they live, what they are scared of etc. The point to this exercise is that simply, monsters can be tamed and they have the power to do it. The kids usually dance and cuddle with them and if any questions arise we can tend to it prior to me leaving.
Monsters are a part of life, they can be good or bad. My Workshop just gives little kids, with all their questions and inquisitive minds more information on a subject that they are interested in and don’t have enough information on, due to caring parents wanting to protect them. My workshops do not scare the kids they are fun, happy, interesting and most of all helpful.
The kids enjoy the workshop and I leave knowing that the kids are less scared of monsters, then when I arrived. If they are still scared, I have given them a tool to take home (the spray bottle) so the parents can open a dialogue about it with their child.
Please understand, that I do have a blue card and that your wonderful center owners and school guidance Counselor are fully up to date with new wave thinking and trust me when I tell you that they perform, all due diligence to make sure that my workshop encompasses the levels of care, of all the kids I work with.
With this general outline, I hope that this gives the parents, an understanding of what I do and how I can help your family. If you have any questions or need more information please email me firstname.lastname@example.org
