This is my first post as a blogger so I thought I should introduce myself.
I am a 44 year old IVF (twice) blessed Mum of two very imaginative, boys (aged 4 and 2) that is on several incredible journeys.
Journey 1 – I am a Jewellery Designer and Valuer and have an extraordinary adorned life working with diamonds, precious metals, gems and celebrities with our brands Want Jewellery and Want X. Yes it’s amazing, I will share what I can.
Journey 2 – I am on the reclaiming my body journey through fitness & lifestyle choices. This journey is dedicated to making exercise and eating well a priority. I have also decided to go to Thailand to have a Mummy Makeover in January 2018. So stay tuned to more if you are considering this choice in your life. I have lost 19kg so far since the birth of my youngest son 2 years ago. I have 3kg to go to get to my goal weight. I have also been roped into Modelling for our Want X brand on the 23rd of August as a Peachy Squad member so keep an eye out for that huge leap.
Journey 3 – My Passion – Helping kids overcome their fears through fun and with the help of their Parents.
As parents it is devastating to witness your child in crippling fear without a solution. Sidney (our eldest) had the most incredible fear of the dark and monsters. He would scream most of the night if you left his side. He and the rest of the family, were sleep deprived and the cycle did not look like it had an end, no matter how hard I researched for solutions. I suggested to my husband Andrew, that we embrace it and see what we could come up with as a family, he said “anythings worth a try”.
Sidney had a love of reading and stories. So as a family we wrote this story to help him over come his fear. I would sit with Sidney (my fearful son) and deconstruct the monsters: What did they do, where did they live, what did they eat, how old where they, what they were scared of etc. Then he would describe what they looked like to his Dad so he could draw them. In the process of deconstructing the monsters he grew less scared of them. As we discovered what the monsters were scared of we developed the spray & Mum’s Marvellous Monster Spray was created.
I wrote the story, Dad illustrated and the boys were the critics. It worked for us and for many other families. We then took the plunge into self publishing and it is now available for purchase. I also run workshops in schools and daycare centers. My biggest joy (apart from my beautiful boys) is seeing kids benefit from the book and parents being able to use the book to interact with their kids.
This blog is to give more insight into what we can do to help our kids become well rounded, happy people. I will have activities, games and songs to share, to hopefully take some guess work out of the most important job you will ever do, Parenting. I hope you enjoy my blog and remember if you have a Monster Problem – Stay Calm & Spray.
